Very sad to report that legendary drummer Dennis Davis has passed away. Dennis played on many Bowie albums & tours.

Dennis Davis was born in Manhattan, where he learned drums at an early age. He studied with Max Roach and Elvin Jones and, in 1967, started playing with the Clark Terry Big Band. Davis eventually served in the Vietnam War, during which he played in the U.S. Navy’s Drum and Bugle Corps. Following his service, Davis played gigs with Roy Ayers. Later, he played on David Bowie’s Young Americans. He continued to perform on Bowie albums, such as Station to Station, Low, “Heroes”, Lodger, and more. Davis’ other studio work included appearances on albums by Stevie Wonder and Iggy Pop. He also continued working with Ayers until the 2000s.

R.I.P Dennis.
