David Bowie named a Commander of Arts and Letters, Paris, 1999

David Bowie was given one of France’s highest honours in October ‘99, by being named a Commander of Arts and Letters for his lifetime achievements in music. Culture Minister Catherine Trautmann did the honours.

Bowie, 52, was in Paris to promote his latest album, ‘hours…’ and to play a concert at the Elysee-Montmartre theater.
